French Mounted Gendarme Helmet M1912hTis is a fine example of a french mounted gendarme helmet, model 1912 (gendarme à cheval). It is constructed of a lovely brass body which is fitted with beautifully nickeled silver high relief fittings that are adorned with the french flaming bomb and the face of medusa. The comb is mounted with a very helathy horsehair brush. The sacled chinstrap has survived in very nice condition as have all the lovely fittings and the outer backside of the helmet is well marked by the maker. The inner liner si long gone.
